Colonial Black Powder Horn
This Black Powder Horn was handcrafted from a large steer horn. The scene that is scrimshawed on this powder horn is of a colonial age depiction. The colonial woman is sitting on the ground and the man is standing with his long rifle speaking with a Native American Indian. Behind the men is a deer laying on the ground that has just been killed and the background is of the scenic woods. The large end has a scrimshaw border in a diamond pattern and on the other side a scallop pattern. The small end or throat was scraped down and a oak plug can be removed for pouring. The shoulder strap is a black and white cloth connected to leather strap with deer buttons. Also on the leather straps that connect to the powder horn are some different size beads.
