Eagle Head Black Powder Horn

This black powder horn was made handcrafted from a buffalo horn. This particular horn was not scraped down to smooth the surface. Instead it was carved with the scale still on the outer surface. This was done on purpose so that you could see both the eagle and the buffalo horn. The large end has a walnut plug carved to fit and then expoxied in place. A hole is drilled in the middle of the walnut plug to allow the user to fill it with black powder. Then a small plug was carved in the shape of a morel mushroom to seal this hole. The mouth was drilled so the powder can be poured out of the horn. This hole is plugged with a trout carved from a deer antler. The horn was then polished and clear coated to seal it from moisture so the powder will stay dry once the horn is filled. This is an authentic, one of a kind powder horn.
