Native American style handcrafted flutes
Hand Carved Double Eagle Deer Antler Fetish Flute
The main body of the flute is made from Black Walnut and has a curley
maple ring near the end. It has six inserts on top for the finger holes
which are shaped for a great fit when playing. There are thirteen rings
shaped in tthe flute, three in front of the fetish and ten behind it.
These rings represent the thirteen moons of the year. The fetish is
made from a deer antler. The button end of the antler has been hollowed
so the sound may escape from the flute. This also serves to protect the
flute from winds when playing it outside. On the end facing the player
I carved two eagle heads. One faces the player and the other faces the
sky. Some Native Americans believe that the Eagles are the messengers
between us and the Great Creator (God). So in this case the Eagles will
carry the music from the player to the Creator. The Fetish is held in
place with two pieces of leather lacing.
