This salt shaker is made from a cow horn and black walnut wood. The shaker end is a piece of turned walnut and has five holes for the salt or pepper to come out of. There is four brass brads in the end of it and a stainless steel ring around the neck for decoration. The bottom of the horn is plugged with a piece of cherry and has a piece of black walnut attached to that so the shaker can sit upright. In the center of the bottom is a fill hole which is plugged with a piece of pine. Around the top and bottom of the horn is brass brads to help hold the wooden ends into the horn and to decorate it a bit. There is a scrimshawed picture on the side which is the outline of a turtle with a turkey and wolf track inside of it. The turtle, turkey and wolf represent three Native American clans.
